Applications Being Accepted for History Preservation Award

Applications are now being accepted for the 2022 Katherine Drake Hart History Preservation Award, the AHCA's signature preservation award. Deadline for entries is April 7, 2023, though organizers are requesting that candidates send an email expressing an intent to submit an application by March 31.


The award honors a person who has made a significant contribution to preserving the rich and diverse history of Austin and Travis County history. The award is presented at the AHCA Annual Meeting each May.


Applications should explain why the candidate is eligible for the award and should include a description of the candidate's achievements and supporting documents, such as newspaper articles and photographs. Previous nominations can be resubmitted with updates of achievements, if necessary. Full instructions for submitting an application are posted on the the AHCA website.

"Pop the Whip," a sculpture by the late Bob Coffee, a founder of the AHCA, will be awarded to the winner of the 2022 Katherine Drake Hart History Preservation Award.
